Help me PLEASE!

About 13 years ago I bought a spinning wheel because I always thought it was a beautiful piece of furniture, and I figured I might one day learn how to "spin". Well, that day has come. My problem is I need a new hobby like I need another kid! My neighbor Shirley, spins and looms and knits and crochets and does ceramics. When she saw I had a spinning wheel, she offered to show me how. I went with her to a guild meeting this past monday and was amazed watching some of the women spin. Some raise their own sheep and alpacas and shear them to spin. My problem is I would really like to spin, but I don't really have a desire to knit or crochet...what to do with the fibers when I'm done. I also feel like I don't have enough time to quilt and embroider - why would I start another hobby?!

Well Beth, learn to spin. I had a wheel exactly like that and when I had it in storage once termites ate it. Nothing else, just that.I was devastated.
I didn't really do anything with my yarn either but I had a lot of fun spinning. I didn't do it much but it is fun and relaxing and I enjoyed just knowing the process. Besides, the wheel needs more love. I say learn how and put the yarn in a basket by the wheel. It isn't like you don't have fabric you don't use! It is easy and fun.

I hate to tell you but I think we should each learn a new craft every year. I would LOVE to use your spinning wheel!!! Who knows what the future brings, you may want to knit and crochet. In the meantime just enjoy the soothing art of spinning!!
